Colourful Singapore

So for our third day on the fine city, we decided to venture out into unknown territory, wahahah...okay maybe not, but we had no idea where we were going. All we knew was that the place was called Little India (somewhere called Chander Road), and Arab Town (specifically Haji Lane). So, putting our walking shoes on - or in my case, sliders - we took the MRT, got off on the stations we checked on the internet, and took a walk. The great thing about SG is that the people are super nice, and so willing to help a lost tourist find her way. Also, Google Maps. Ahhhh, technology, this is when I realize that I need you.

Well, these two places did not disappoint. We were greeted with colorful buildings, creative street art, loads and loads of local culture. We had an amazing local lunch at Little India, spicy curries and sauces that would have cost a whole of a lot more in Macao. Too bad we didn't try the halal food in Arab Town though, it's something I've always wanted to eat. But, at the end of the day we did have a short reprieve at one of the many street bars at Haji Lane - some Bulmers Cider and cheesy fries.

Oh, let me tell you a bit about Haji Lane. We kind of stumbled into it. You will know when you start seeing all the wall art in what was mostly a reserved area. They had so many shops selling all kinds of vintage and kitsch items. A cute little detail is the stairs. Since space was sparse, some of the shops had to be relegated to the second floor, so their stairs had all these cute designs and stickers inviting you in. Well consider me invited. I almost gave my whole trip money for a vintage satchel. Leon was considering how to bring home a coca-cola collectible trunk. We had fun taking pictures of the shop windows. Finally, we ended the day at Bugis Street (a large night market, don't miss it) and bought all our souvenirs.

Outfit-wise, I chose a simple, classic combo of a vintage oxford shirt and skort. No fussy anything. Very simple colors too. Oh and Birks - I am getting really attached to them. So, what do you think of my first Birk outfit? Would you wear something similar?

I just finished HK Fashion Week Spring/Summer...whew...so there will be even more posts for you soon. So see you! - Che
