Fashion Week '15 Preview

Finally! Once again, HK Fashion Week is upon us. It has become sort of a ritual, and for me, a chance to live out one of my wildest fantasies, which is as a fashion person - in amazing clothes, with shows to watch, and wine to sip while canoodling with other fashion people. This is something you don't get to feel very often in your everyday life. I mean, how many chances will you get to play high-fashion dress up right?

While I wasn't able to go to the preview last year, this year I am in full attendance, from start to finish. With Joana and my makeup artist friend, Ivan (he did my makeup in this post), we arrived in Hong Kong with minutes to spare. After allowing a taxi to get us hopelessly lost, we found these two sweet girls to help us get into the right direction. Lunch was plate service at the fancy El Cid Restaurant (super delicious!) - a full course meal, no less.

HK is pretty on-point with its trends each season, and 2015 is no different. There's the sport, black and white, the pop art prints, couture and ready-to-wear. I am so looking forward to so many shows - such as the always street-savvy I.T, Zalora, oh, and Shanghai Tang! Yep - this year's big show. Snapmade | Pop Art!

Whew...I finally got to post this. I went through so much trouble to get this shirt - the address was completely wrong, they didn't know where it was, blah blah blah...yep. But finally, right? It was given to me by the amazing people at Snapmade. They make customized items - you know, like cups, custom t-shirts and jewelry. If you have someone you'd like to give a present to, you can give them a personalized gift from Snapmade.

I knew right away that I was going to go for a tee, one from the men's section. Men's tees just fit better. After scouring hundreds of photos on Pinterest and Google alike, I decided on this super cool 'pop' art print. As usual I was late to the 'pop art' trend, but it doesn't really faze me. I needed this shirt in my life though, and you will definitely see so much more of this. Another item I got was a cigarette case with StyleChe on the front. Talk about self-promoting! I paired the tee with this cute two-stripe skirt and my new mules, which are presents from my mom. This was the first time I wore them, so they hurt a bit. So there's me in an embarrassing position in the last picture - with my shoes off!

I just came back from the media press event in HK. Just a little taste of the days to come, if you will. I have the photos, but I haven't gone through them yet. I will do my best to get them up for you soon =) So see you then? - Che

Fifty Shades of Red

Red used to be one of those colors I was scared of. It was just so in-your-face and bright, and a little off-balance in the outfit will most probably result in a 'label'. You know, maybe Santa, Christmas, or even Cougar. But lately my outfit ideas, I notice, seem to incorporate the fierce color one way or another. Whether it was my shoes in the previous post or here via my beanie. I used to avoid beanies like the plague too, because you know, curly hair and all that. But now I've learned to celebrate the curls, and accept it as part of me. So yes to beanies!

For my outfit of the day, it was all about fighting the cold, harsh day and being comfy. Am I the only one that thinks this coatigan is amazing? Between my firetruck red beanie and leather pants (OMG leather skinnies!), I could've sent out wrong signals, but the coat makes it all look almost polished and comfy. Sigh...it's all so gray. My love-hate relationship with Macau's weather continues, as it usually fogs up every time I decide to take pictures, and then give out warm sunshine every time I can't. To say I'm frustrated is an understatement!

But...not all bad news, because tomorrow, HK Fashion Week commences, so I'll probably have more stuff to show you then. But for now, do you like the colour red? Or is it a little scary? Let me know - and I'll see you soon - Che

Shenzhen | Double Denim

Yep, I started the new year with a Canadian Tuxedo - that is, denim on denim. A simple and comfortable enough look to visit Guangzhou the day after the festivities. I wanted nothing fussy - so minimal jewelry and these new, amazing sneakers. Sigh, like walking on marshmallows. Ooh, I got a little jump shot in there too, which is an achievement, considering my face regained its composure the entire time, and did not break into giggles, because you know, jumping is fun. China is an amazing place to take pictures, because the roads are so big, and most are empty - like this train station. Oh and people don't really give a fxxk, which is good.

I've been upping my basics game lately, and after striking gold with the perfect leopard coat a few weeks ago, I got a second stroke of luck this day when I found a pair of leather skinnies on sale at H&M by complete accident. Leather skinnies! I have been searching for ages, but it's so worth it =) So see you soon? - Che

How is it that my first posts of the year always start with hauls? Well, I guess you could chalk it up to lack of time to take any outfit posts. But we all love haul posts, right?

I think I overdid it with leopard print this time around. There's just something so sexy, and so infinitely wearable about the print. A leopard (faux) fur jacket has been high on my wish list of items for a very long time now, and I scored perfection at the Stradivarius sale. Oh and of course leopard heels I've already debuted on Instagram a few weeks ago. Other than that, I was spoilt with all the beautiful presents I got this Christmas - most specially these amazing Nike Roshe Run (Red October) from my Leon.Amazing additions to my ever-growing closet. And perfect timing too, since HK Fashion Week will be happening in a few weeks. Yep, busy January ahead, but all my own making so it's all good =) How's 2015 looking for you? Let me know! Goodbye 2014!

I think 2014 deserves a proper send-off. I didn't do one of these last year, but with the rollercoaster of a year I had, well, it felt right. 2014, wow, did it start on the highest of highs, kept that high and then plummeted down to a whole, new low. I was opened up to a whole new world of fashion and met so many new friends. I went to all these wonderful places with new eyes. I got married, which is the most satisfying decision I ever made. I made difficult decisions, and surprisingly, I rekindled friendships that I thought had died,

I lost my job too this year, only to open myself to financial risk, but again, one of the best decisions I ever made, one which will determine where I go, career-wise, from here. Because I realized I will not sell myself short, and that is a big deal to me. My blog has been ongoing, and I've made the decision to continue even though there might not be more for me anymore as a blogger. But not all bad news, blog-wise, because I also figured out that I have a voice, and a story to tell. This has always been about me and finding my confidence after years of bullying, and I really want to continue that.

While 2014 entered my life with a bang (I was so excited), 2015 is coming cautiously optimistic. I'm cautiously optimistic my life can only go up from here. But at the same time, of course, I'm starting to wonder what life has in store for me, what challenges it will throw, what opportunities it will bring. Here's hoping for a great year, and if not, well, there's always 2016.
